Advance ticket sales for Katie Holmesâ Broadway debut in All My Sons are far below those for Nicole Kidmanâs 1998 run in The Blue Room, the New York Post reports.
Less than $1 million in tickets for All My Sons â which begins previews in September â have been sold compared to $4 million for Kidmanâs Broadway stint, according to the paper.
âIâve bought 1,000 tickets to the show,â a broker told the Post. âI still have them.â
(Neither of Tom Cruiseâs women topped tickets for Julia
Robertsâ 2006 show Three Days of Rain, which sold out in one day, the Post reports.)
A show rep tells Usmagazine.com: âWe donât discuss advance sales.â
Furthermore, tickets to see Kidman â who briefly appeared nude in the show â went as high as $700 while premium tickets for Holmesâ show are netting $300.
âI think if she takes off her clothes, she may catch up!â a Broadway insider joked to the Post.
The paper blames lackluster sales on Cruiseâs declining popularity since the 1990s. Kidmanâs debut on Broadway coincided with the release of their controversial flick Eyes Wide Shut and he was touted on mag covers as
the biggest movie star in the world.
âPeople arenât shelling out $110 for a play anymore,â a broker told the Post. âIt doesnât matter whoâs in it.â
