Friends beauty Jennifer Aniston and folk-rocker John Mayer are in a hot new romance — thanks to Sheryl Crow who played matchmaker, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively!

Singer-songwriter Sheryl credits close pal Jennifer with helping her through her breast cancer ordeal, and is a long time friend of John, whom she toured with in 2006.

“Sheryl thinks the world of both Jen and John, and knows that they’ve both been looking for that special someone,” said a friend.

“So while Sheryl is doing tour dates in Florida, she decided to set the two of them up on a date in Miami.”

And what a date it was!

Jennifer, 39, – who is currently shooting the film Marley & Me in Miami — and John, 30, had a romantic meal at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in South Beach on Friday afternoon April 25, getting the kitchen to stay open past their 3 p.m. lunch closing so they could be alone.”

“Jen and John looked very happy together,” said an eyewitness.

“They felt so comfortable with each other that they ate of each other’s plates. Jen had a bite of John’s ham sandwich between bites of her chopped chicken salad. And they shared a chocolate-peanut butter candy bar dessert.

“They walked arm and arm as they left the restaurant.”

And the couple couldn’t get enough of each other. Later that evening they had a romantic dinner that lasted until 1 a.m. at the romantic Italian restaurant Casa Tua .

“Their next date could be a Sheryl Crow concert — she’s doing gigs up and down the coast all this week,” added the friend.

“After all, they owe her a big ‘thank you’ ”.
